FAQ
How should I store my sea moss gel?
Upon receiving your sea moss gel, it is recommended to refrigerate it for a minimum of 5 hours before use. While we take care to package all gels diligently with cold packs, especially during summer months, refrigeration for a short period ensures that the gel returns to its intended consistency. The gels should be consumed within 4-6 weeks or by the "Best By" date indicated on the jar. Alternatively, you can transfer the sea moss gel to a freezer-safe container or ice cube tray and freeze it for up to 6 months.
What is the preparation process for your sea moss gel?
To ensure the highest quality, our sea moss undergoes a meticulous preparation process. We rinse and clean the sea moss with filtered water 5-6 times, or more if the batch is particularly salty. The sea moss is then soaked exclusively in spring or distilled water for a minimum of 12-24 hours. During this soaking process, key limes that have been thoroughly washed with ACV (apple cider vinegar) and baking soda are added to remove any impurities. Lime is also used as a natural preservative. Prior to consumption, the sea moss is subjected to heat treatment, effectively eliminating any unseen germs and ensuring its safety. This heating process does not compromise the nutritional value of the sea moss, as minerals are not affected by heat. It solely targets germs that may have been introduced during the harvesting process.
What is the taste of sea moss gel?
Sea moss gel itself is virtually tasteless. Our sea moss is soaked in lime, which acts as a natural preservative. Although you may detect a subtle hint of lime, it is not overpowering. Many customers incorporate the gel into their frozen fruit smoothies without experiencing any noticeable taste. If you opt for our infused flavors, the specific infusion will contribute to the overall flavor.
What is the shelf life of sea moss gel?
When properly stored, sea moss gel can last for 4-6 weeks. It is crucial to refrigerate the gel as soon as it arrives. We provide a "best by" date on all orders to guide you. If you wish to extend the shelf life, you can transfer the gel to a container suitable for freezing, such as a freezer-safe container or ice cube tray. Frozen sea moss gel can be preserved for up to 6 months.
Do you use glass jars for packaging?
Absolutely! All our sea moss gel products are stored in glass food-safe jars. These jars are FDA-approved, and we ensure that each one is sanitized before use.
What measures are you taking to ensure safety during COVID-19?
